Wilkes University's two-year, Pre-Pharmacy course sequence is designed to prepare you for the challenges of the School of Pharmacy's four-year Professional Pharmacy curriculum. Admission to the Guaranteed Seat Pre-Pharmacy Program is very competitive. Enrollment is limited to 90 students. Students may only enter the program as freshmen graduating from high school.

The application process for the program is as follows

Pharmacy
  • Applicants must first complete a Wilkes University admission application.
  • Applicants who meet the SAT criteria (scores greater than 1080) (ACT composite score greater than 22) and class rank criteria (upper 50% or a minimum overall GPA of 3.0 or higher) are forwarded an application for the School of Pharmacy. (Minimum recommended Math SAT score of 570)
  • Students must also:
  1. Submit three recommendations;
  2. Shadowing is not a requirement in our application process.   It is recommended that you bolster your knowledge of the profession of pharmacy (current practices and roles, major issues the profession faces, future directions, etc.) in preparation for your interview.  Possible information sources include professional pharmacy organizations’ websites, pharmacist interviews you may wish to arrange and conduct, and shadowing (if feasible).
  • Applications are reviewed by the School of Pharmacy; top applicants are invited for a personal interview.
  • Final admission into the program is based on a thorough evaluation of each student that focuses on high school rank, SAT (ACT) scores, and the results of the personal interview.
  • Interviewed applicants not selected for immediate admission are placed on a waiting list and are offered seats in the Guaranteed Seat Pre-Pharmacy Program as they become available.
  • Enrollment is limited to 90 students. Students may only enter the program as freshmen graduating from high school. For interested parties who would not be entering directly from high school, call (570) 408-4280 to discuss career goals and requirements for admission to the professional (Pharm.D.) program.
Applications for the Guaranteed Seat Pre-Pharmacy Program are accepted starting in June of each year and must be completed by February 1. There are typically many more applicants than there are seats available in the program.

Since applicants are admitted on a rolling basis, all seats may be awarded before the February 1 deadline. Therefore, applicants are encouraged to complete the application process as early as possible.
