Dr. Rexer is the Robert S. Capin Professor of Accounting and has been a faculty member at Wilkes University since 1990. She was the 2015 winner of the Carpenter Outstanding Teaching Award, Wilkes’ highest faculty honor. Prior to Wilkes, Dr. Rexer taught at Johnson and Wales University and practiced public accounting with a national firm. She received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Wilkes College, a Master of Science in Taxation from Bryant University, and a Ph.D., in Accounting from Drexel University. Dr. Rexer has authored articles and books on auditing, financial accounting, managerial accounting, intermediate accounting, health care auditing, and online teaching. One of her books is a managerial accounting text offered free to collegiate accounting students through Open Stax.

Dr. Rexer has always looked for ways to reach students and was writing her own online courses beginning in 1999. She researched better ways to interact with students using the online platform and worked with John Wiley and Sons on several textbooks being developed into their e-courseware which became WileyPlus. Dr. Rexer pushed Wiley to develop drag and drop technology so students could visually relate the items being studied. For the professional accountant, her research led to a National Attestation Standard; and after writing questions on the CPA exam, she authored study guides for the CPA and CITP exams as well as continuing education courses for CPAs.

While Dr. Rexer’s primarily teaches accounting, her consulting practice has afforded her the skills to teach Integrated Management courses. She was also the driving force behind the development of the undergraduate Sports Management major.
