Dr. Tuttle joined the Wilkes faculty in 1989.  He has a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Notre Dame.  He teaches a variety of courses including Introduction to Sociology, The Family, Social Stratification, Family Violence, and Research Methods.  Dr. Tuttle’s primary research area of interest is the intersection of work and family. He has published research involving the determinants of fathers' participation in childcare, the relationship between self-employment and family life satisfaction, and the relationship between self-employment and mental health of females. He has made numerous presentations at both the annual conference of the National Council on Family Relations, and the American Sociological Association.  His current research studies the effects of workplace policies on parents experiencing work/family conflict.
