Wilkes University

In 2006, Wilkes University’s Student Development Office implemented an Electronic Mentoring Program, otherwise referred to as the E-Mentor Program. Student Development created this website with the purpose of educating you about our Award Winning E-Mentoring Program.

The mission of the Wilkes University First-Year E-mentoring Program is to provide first year students with a convenient outlet for advice that will aid in the transition to college and provide an extraordinary support environment for academic achievement and personal growth.

E-Mentors are student leaders on campus, who have excelled in a collegiate lifestyle both academically and through extra curricular activities. E-Mentors are assigned to First-Year Students based on the students’ majors. Each E-Mentor is matched with approximately 10-15 First-Year Students.

Every incoming student will receive an E-mentor, an upperclassman in a related major that they can rely on for peer advice; your mentor becomes your first friend at Wilkes! E-Mentors communicate with First-Year Students prior to the start of the semester primarily through an introductory letter sent in early June and emails through the Wilkes email system. At Orientation, the First-Year Students meet their E-Mentors who also serve as their Orientation Leader.

The communication with E-Mentors continues throughout the entire fall semester, making sure that the students are adjusted to the University. E-Mentors are not limited to electronic communication; students often meet face-to-face for lunch or other campus events as well. Have more questions?
