Wilkes Young Scholars Program

The goal of the Wilkes Young Scholars Program is to provide...

qualified area high-school students with an opportunity to take college courses at Wilkes University at a nominal cost.

The program is open to students who...
  • have successfully completed the 10th grade in high school;
  • rank in the top 15 percent of their class; and
  • are nominated to participate in this program by a teacher, guidance counselor, or principal on an official WYSP nomination form. Students from schools that do not use rank, or who are home-schooled, will be considered on an individual basis.

Privileges...
Students who enroll in at least one course through this program will be designated Wilkes Young Scholars for the term. Upon request, they will...
  • be granted library privileges at Wilkes;
  • be given assistance in career planning, college selection and financing; be accorded preferential consideration in Wilkes scholarship awards; and
  • be admitted free-of-charge to most university athletic, musical and cultural events.

Cost is $80 per credit.
That means a typical three-credit course costs $240. By contrast, regular part-time tuition is about $660 per credit.
