Gov. Edward Rendell is Wilkes University Spring Commencement Speaker

The Hon. Edward G. Rendell, governor of Pennsylvania, will deliver the spring 2010 commencement address at Wilkes University The University’s commencement ceremony is on Saturday, May 22 at 1 p.m. at Mohegan Sun Arena.
“Gov. Rendell is speaking at just two commencements in the state this year,” says Wilkes University president Tim Gilmour. “Wilkes is honored to be selected and looks forward to hosting him at our commencement ceremony. It’s a special day that will be made more special by his presence.”
Rendell is the 45th governor of Pennsylvania and is serving his second term of office. Rendell previously served as the 121st mayor of the City of Philadelphia and as the city’s district attorney prior to his service as mayor. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Villanova Law School, and a veteran of the Army. In addition to serving as governor, he teaches government and politics courses at the University of Pennsylvania. His wife, Marjorie O. Rendell, is a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and they have a son, Jesse.
