Fitness Guru Shaun T, Creator Of Insanity Workout, Comes
To Wilkes University for Master Class On Nov. 3
Tickets Go On Sale To The Public On Oct. 30
WILKES-BARRE, PA. (Oct. 16, 2012) – The term “insanity” carries some negative connotations, except when it comes to fitness.
The reason for that is Shaun Thompson – better known simply as Shaun T – creator of the popular “Insanity” workout regimen. On Saturday, Nov. 3, Thompson will bring his intense brand of physical fitness to Wilkes University for a special master class.
In addition to having the chance to work out with the man himself, attendees will also participate in a special question-and-answer session and a photo-op/autograph session. The event, which is open to the public, will be held in the University Center on Main Street. The event goes from 1 to 5 p.m. Ticket holders must be present by 12:30 p.m. on the day of the event for their spot to stay reserved.
Developed by Shaun T in 2009, Insanity is described by the Beachbody fitness company as “the hardest workout program ever put on DVD.” It's a high-intensity interval-training regimen that emphasizes 3- to 4-minute bursts of strenuous cardio and plyometric exercise followed by 30-second rest periods, after which the cycle begins again. Demanding but effective, Insanity can burn up to 1,000 calories in an hour and promises to help participants change their bodies in just 60 days.
Prior to creating the regimen, Shaun T worked as a personal trainer, a backup dancer for Mariah Carey, a fitness model for Nike and a choreographer for the movie “Bring It On: All or Nothing.” Before Insanity, Thompson also developed the “Hip-Hop Abs” program for Beachbody, which became the highest selling workout video in the United States the following year.
Tickets for Shaun T’s master class are limited to 300 and are available on a first-come first-serve basis. Tickets are currently available to Wilkes students, faculty and alumni. Tickets for the general public are $10 and go on sale on Tuesday, Oct. 30. Tickets are available every Tuesday and Thursday after going on sale, between the hours of 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in the Henry Student Center, 84 W. South Street, Wilkes-Barre.
This event is sponsored by the Wilkes University Health and Wellness Club, Bacchus Club, Student Government and Programming Board, as well as the Wilkes-Barre YMCA. For more information, email the Health and Wellness Club at HAWC@wilkes.edu.
