Wilkes University’s Student Chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) will host its eighth annual auto show on Sunday, April 27 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The show will be held in the Wilkes University Henry Student Center parking lot, located at 84 W. South Street, Wilkes-Barre, Pa. Entrance fee for cars is $10 if pre-registered by 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2014. The pre-registration link can be found on the wilkes.edu website by searching keywords "8th Annual Auto Show." Entrance fee at the door day of is $15.00.
More than 130 cars will be exhibited in the show, and various vendors and attractions will be available for the spectators with live musical performances by Tuxedo Mouse, a Wilkes University student formed band.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that honors and empowers wounded service men and women. The principle purposes of the Wounded Warrior Project are raising awareness and enlisting the public’s aid for the needs of injured service members, helping injured service members aid and assist each other, and providing unique, direct programs and services to meet the needs of injured service members.
More than 50 awards and giveaways will be given in specific categories including: Pre War Era Domestics (pre-1944), Post-War Era Domestics (1944-1960), American Muscle Era (1961-1972), Mid-Modern Era Domestic (1973-1999), 21st Century Domestics (2000-Present), European Imports, JDM (Japanese Domestic Market)/Asian Market, Trucks/SUV and Lowrider.
The rain date for the event will be May 4.
