Patch Adams, the clowning physician who challenges that status quo of medical care, will speak to Wilkes University students from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, in the Darte Center for the Performing Arts.
Adams is founder the Gesundheit! Institute, a not-for-profit health care organization that promotes holistic medical care based on the belief that one cannot separate the health of the individual from the health of the family, the community, the world, and the health care system itself. The model includes free health care infused with fun and play. Adams’ life and work were highlighted in the 1998 movie Patch Adams, starring Robin Williams as the title character.
All health sciences, pharmacy, pre-pharmacy and nursing are invited to attend this free lecture. All students attending will receive a free gift – from “Scrubnuts”, which we believe you will honor for the rest of your professional lives. (For more information about Scrubnuts, visit www.scrubnuts.com).
Registration is encouraged.

Dr. Adams’ visit is sponsored by local businessman David Koral, a board member of the Gesundheit! Institute.
