The Center for Global Education and Diversity at Wilkes was inaugurated in September 2008 to serve our growing multicultural community. It is part of campus-wide efforts to prepare students for the global job market of the twenty first century. There is a strong belief on campus that appreciating differences makes us stronger and opens up a world of wonderful options. Learning and working with people of different backgrounds and nationalities is the best way to develop skills for the market place.
The Center is housed in the Max Roth Building at the corner of South and South Franklin Street. It serves as a resource center for students, faculty and staff. We also manage the Savitz Multicultural Lounge on the Second Floor of the Henry Student Center. The Center and its staff are trained to offer useful cross-cultural information, provide support and advocacy for under-represented and international students, help students connect with multicultural community groups, provide information on Study Abroad experiences, and assist in everyone's cultural development. The Center for Global Education and Diversity collaborates with the Multicultural Student Coalition in the planning of multicultural programs and projects for our campus community. The Intensive English Program, a service for non-native speakers of English, is also housed at the Center.
