Mentorship Program

Have you ever thought about becoming a mentor for new students? If so kindly ponder these questions...

1. Would you like to see more students of color on this campus?
2. Has Wilkes been mostly a positive experience for you?
3. Do you know the "ins and outs" of Wilkes?
4. Have you been successful in overcoming some of the difficulties faced by new students, especially students of color?
5. Have you made some connections with local minority resources such as...
   • African-American hair salons?
   • Asian-American food markets?
   • Latino worship services?
   • Indo-American cultural groups?
6. Are you willing to share what you know about Wilkes and the local community with a new student?
7. Do you wish YOU would have had a mentor to talk to when you first came here?

If you can answer "Yes!" to these questions, you might be the perfect mentor for a new student this fall. The Office of Multicultural Affairs needs qualified, caring students to begin a mentorship program for incoming students of color. You will be trained during the first week of the fall semester to give you the skills you'll need to be a successful mentor.
