Have you ever had Ethiopian food? Met a student from India?
Become good friends with someone of a different race, religion or ethnicity?
In order to function effectively as an individual and professional, you will need to know how to relate to people with different beliefs and customs. So do yourself a favor and become acquainted with the Multicultural Student Coalition.
The MSC is a diverse group of students from...
many racial and ethnic backgrounds who are dedicated to the celebration of diversity on the campus and in the community at large. To that end, the MSC participates in community service projects, ethnic celebrations, scholarly presentations, and other activities that help to increase intercultural understanding.
Currently, this active group consists of African American, Asian American, Latino, and Caucasian students from all over the United States as well as international students from Ghana, Gambia, the Congo, Romania, Armenia, Japan, China, Vietnam, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, India, Pakistan and Jordan.
The Student Government at Wilkes University allocates...
money each year to the MSC. In reality, these funds come from the Student Activities Fee that each Wilkes student pays. That is why the MSC encourages all students, not just students of color, to participate in these programs. There are no club dues charged to members of the MSC. The MSC is totally funded by Wilkes University.
The MSC elects its own president, vice-president,
secretary, and treasurer once a year. Any student who attends a meeting has voting power, and all students are welcome to attend. The Multicultural Coordinator, whose office is on the second floor of the Henry Student Center, advises the MSC.
