There's more
to the real world than what MTV is telling you.
Before we tell you why Wilkes University should be the place where you'll spend the next four years of your liberal arts education, consider that an estimated 40 percent of Fortune 500 CEOs graduated from a liberal-arts college or received a degree in a liberal-arts major.

Why is that important?
Because the difference between a good education and a great education is determined by how well your school prepares you for both a career in your major and a career in the real world. Sure, you can go anywhere and learn how to be a History teacher, a psychologist, or a journalist. But the test of a university's educational excellence centers around the ability of its graduates to succeed and grow in any career, whether it's teaching in an elementary school or running one of the world's largest companies.

Also consider that studies suggest the average person changes careers three times during his or her life. That's why at Wilkes, it is vitally important to us that you learn more than just your major. What can you do with an Wilkes English degree? A degree in Education? A major in Sociology? Simple: anything you want.

At Wilkes, our number-one focus is on graduating great thinkers,
communicators, and problem solvers so you can rise to the top no matter what career you choose or where you end up twenty years down the road. An English major here learns to communicate effectively and professionally analyze while analyzing Shakespeare. A Theater Arts major picks up skills during public performances that can be used in any business presentation. A student who studies criminology graduates prepared to take on leadership roles. Now, that's not to say you won't go on to be wildly successful in your chosen major. But ask any Wilkes grad currently working in the field of their intended major and they'll likely tell you the specialized knowledge they learned in a class is equally important to their overall success as the generalized skills they developed over their four years.

Wilkes is a perfect choice for a number of key reasons,
most of which are partly due to our small, intimate educational atmosphere. Our dedicated faculty will challenge you to push your personal boundaries, so you get out of your comfort zone and explore new possibilities. You will make friends outside of your major, so you gain a unique perspective into the interests of others. Our flexibility allows you to explore minors and courses in different majors that you might not be encouraged to try to elsewhere. And a host of extracurricular and cocurricular activities gives you unique learning opportunities and a chance to find your niche.
