Get involved with International Student Services
Return to The Family Corner - December 2010
International Student Services (ISS) of the Center for Global Education and Diversity welcomes your child and you to the Wilkes University community!
Wilkes undergraduates have an exciting opportunity to interact with classmates from 14 different countries. There are 57 international undergraduates who will earn their degrees at Wilkes and take back to Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America an understanding of US perspectives and lifestyles.
ISS hosts activities every week to encourage intercultural communication and learning. Our flagship event, the weekly Global Coffee Hour is an informal gathering for chatting over soft drinks and cookies on the second floor of the SUB, Wednesdays, 3:00 – 5:00. Click here to see pictures from this event.
You can join the families of Wilkes students who get involved by enlivening their Thanksgiving when they host an international student at the family dinner. Sharing their customs with someone from another culture has become a new Thanksgiving tradition for some Wilkes families. Some families host an international student for lunch or dinner during the semester. If you have any questions or want to be involved, write Georgia Costalas, Director of International Student Services.
