Adding Machine A Musical is less a musical than a high mass of low events; a spiraling nightmare set to a gorgeous, angelic score. Almost entirely sung and set in the 1920’s, this expressionistic tale is a story of ordinary people that will give you chills. A darkly satirical examination of the abuses of capitalism in the early 20^th century.

Mr. Zero is the eternal “little man”, shallow yet possessing some dignity, who murders his boss when he learns that, after twenty five years of being a bookkeeper, he is to be replaced by an adding machine. Condemned to death despite his piteous appeal to the jury, he is executed, goes to “heaven” and is sent back to earth to be reborn.

Songs for a New World is a work of musical theatre whose original Broadway production ran for 28 performances at the WPA theatre in New York City in 1995. An abstract musical, the show features performers who do not play just one character, singing all the songs connected by theme rather than narrative. The show is far more than a revue but it’s not a standard book musical. Composer Brown has said of his show “It’s about one moment. It’s about hitting the wall and having to make a choice, or take a stand, or turn around and go back.”

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM

Lysander loves Hermia, and Hermia loves Lysander. Helena loves Demetrius; Demetrius used to love Helena but now loves Hermia. Egeus, Hermia’s father, prefers Demetrius as a suitor and enlists the aid of Theseus, the Duke of Athens, to enforce his wishes upon his daughter. Hermia is given four days to choose between Demetrius, life in a nunnery, or death. Hermia, ever defiant, chooses escape with Lysander into the forest where wonderful romantic complications arise.
