Almost Maine

by John Cariani
September 29, 30 and October 1 at 8 p.m.
October 2 at 2 p.m.
Directed by: Joseph C. Dawson
Auditions: August 31st at 6:30 p.m. at the Dorothy Dickson Darte Center Stage

On a cold, clear, moonless Friday night in the middle of winter, all is not quite what it seems in the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine. As the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, residents of Almost find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Knees are bruised; hearts are broken. Love is lost, found, and confounded. But the bruises heal and the hearts mend – almost – in what has been described as “a comic, romantic roundelay” by The Wall Street Journal, “a wooly midwinter night’s dream” by The Dallas Observer, “love in the time of frostbite” by the New York Sun, “a sweet-natured valentine to fools and idioms” by The Los Angeles Times, “a gem” by Florida Weekly, “an unapologetically romantic fable” by The Arizona Republic, and “an effervescent yet deeply felt tragicomedy” by The Melbourne (Australia) Age.

The Who's Tommy
by Pete Townshend
November 11, 12, 18, 19 at 8 p.m.
November 13, 20 at 2 p.m.
Directed by: Teresa Fallon
Musical Direction by: Ken McGraw
Auditions: August 30th at 6:30 p.m. at the Dorothy Dickson Darte Center Stage

Pete Townshend’s tale of a young boy’s journey from pain to enlightenment is the most electrifying evening of rock and roll ever to play in a theatre!

After witnessing a murder, Tommy is traumatized into a hysterical state of catatonia. While in his inner world, he contacts a part of himself that most people rarely touch. His inner life is full of “amazing journeys” while his outer life is filled with abuse at the hands of his sadistic relatives and neighbors. Discovered to have an uncanny knack for playing pinball, Tommy becomes a celebrity, breaks through his personal walls and becomes an international pinball superstar.

Amadeus
April 12, 13, 14 at 8 p.m.
April 15 at 2 p.m.
Directed by: Teresa Fallon

Winner of a Tony Award for Best Play as well as the Academy Award for Best Film, Peter Shaffer’s “Amadeus” is a whodunit drama that examines what jealousy and envy can do to the human soul.  A highly fictionalized tale of eighteenth century composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri,  “Amadeus” portrays one of theatre’s ultimate rivalries with glorious music and madness.
