May Intern of the Month

Lacey Willis
Dr. Evene Estwick nominated Lacey and informed us that she has been an excellent intern and representative of the Communication Studies Department and Wilkes University. Her intern supervisor at WILK gave her a 100% for her work and described her as ‘professional’ and ‘prompt’. WILK was so impressed with Lacey’s work that she will start as a part-time talk show producer next week." Nice job Lacey!

August Intern of the Month

Claire Gothreau
Dr. Baldino was thrilled with Claire's performance at her internship with the Everhart Museum. He stated, "I’d like to nominate Claire Gothreau for intern of the month and, if possible, best intern of the summer. Ms. Gothreau has been one of the most conscientious student interns with whom I have worked during my 21 years at Wilkes. She has spent more hours at her site, the Everhart Museum, than required because she wanted to help the museum successfully mount several events. Her weekly journal reports have been detailed and thoughtful. Ms. Gothreau’s supervisor , Ms. Nezka Pfeifer, was effusive in her praise of Ms. Gothreau’s work.: she was punctual, conscientious, flexible with work assignments, even tempered, and a nice sense of humor. The research conducted by Ms. Gothreau for one of the upcoming exhibits was outstanding. From my perspective, Ms. Gothreau learned a great deal about a museum functions and her research paper on blood rituals as a means of control should be an excellent paper." Congratulations Claire!

November Intern of the Month

Ian Foley
Both Dr. Baldino and Dr. Jane Elmes Crahall believe that our outstanding student leader, Ian Foley, is worthy of nomination for Intern of the Month.

Dr. Baldino states, "Ian worked in the Republican Party’s Luzerne county office, and by all accounts, did an excellent job. His energy and enthusiasm were clearly manifest. Not only did he benefit from the experience, but his placement sponsor gained a valued and loyal “employee” for several months. Though the election’s outcome may have disappointed Ian, he will look back upon the experience as one of the formative ones of his undergraduate education."

Dr. Elmes- Crahall added from the communications side, "Ian was able to carry out the many writing and coordinating tasks of an active political campaign. Not only did he successfully write for media, including social media, on a daily basis, he was also creative in how to involve potential young voters. He organized a voter registration drive with the campus Young Republicans and hosted presidential debate watches on campus. His skill in coordinating logistics is exceptional." Congratulations Ian!

December Intern of the Month

Dominick Constantino
Dr. Kinney said "I cannot say enough about Dominick's work at his Corporate Communications internship at Blue Cross of Northeastern PA; he did a fabulous job! What a great student!" This is Dominick's second Intern of the Month award, as he is very experienced at obtaining good experiences and capitalizing on them. His supervisor stated "it was a pleasure having Dominick here, he showed great enthusiasm and his quality of work was very good." Sharon Castano, Internship Coordinator, believes that Dominick's resume will exceed most seniors when it comes to having experience outside of the classroom. Congratulations! Now, what's next??
