Dr. Jamal A Ghorieshi, professor of Mechanical Engineering, is the Director of the Mechanical Design and Testing Lab. He earned his Ph.D. and M.S. degree in Applied Mechanics from SUNY/Buffalo. He also holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the same school. He joined Wilkes in 1984 and was promoted to professor in 2006, Professor Division of Engineering and Physics. He has published numerous, important papers. He has over 25 years of experience in teaching and research. He is a member of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Acoustical Society of America (ASA), Tribology & Lubrication Technology (TLT) and American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE).
Dr. Edward T. Bednarz III earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and double major in Physics from Wilkes University in 2001. He was employed at the U.S. Army Aberdeen Test Center at the Aberdeen Proving Ground in MD for 8 years designing test equipment while earning his M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. After returning to northeast PA, Dr. Bednarz has worked at the Tobyhanna Army Depot and as an Adjunct Professor at his alma mater, Wilkes, teaching Mechanical Engineering. His research interests are load identification using strain gages, and solutions to the inverse problem applied to engineering design and measurement.
