The largest source of scholarships...
at Wilkes are our institutional scholarships, which are generally awarded based on stated criteria such as a class rank, SAT or ACT score, or exceptional talent. Other institutional scholarships are awarded based on affiliation with a certain group such as the Commuter Council, or interest in a specific area like math or science, etc. Some scholarships are awarded based on both merit and financial need. 

Wilkes University Scholars are those students who...
have achieved a combined SAT score of 1800+ or an ACT score of 28+ or is in the top 5% of his/her high class.They may be awarded a scholarship of $13,000. Consideration is automatically given to students who meet these criteria.

Wilkes Presidential Scholarships of $11,000...
are awarded to freshmen who have achieved a combined SAT score of 1650-1790 or an ACT score of  26-27+ or is in the top 10% of his/her high class. Consideration is automatically given to students who meet these criteria. Use our scholarship calculator to find out how much you might be awarded.

Wilkes Transfer Student Scholarships are awarded...
each year to students who have earned a minimum of 24 credits at another institution and who have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0. The amount awarded to each recipient ranges from $3,000 to $4,000 per year.

Wilkes Deans' Scholarships of $8,000...
are awarded to freshmen who have achieved a combined SAT score of 1500-1640 or an ACT score of 23-25 or is in the top 20% of his/her high class. Consideration is automatically given to students who meet these criteria. Use our scholarship calculator to find out how much you might be awarded.

Wilkes Commitment Awards of $6,000...
are given to freshmen who have achieved a combined SAT score of 1350-1490 or an ACT score of 21-22 AND  is in the top half of his/her high class.Consideration is automatically given to students who meet these criteria. Use our scholarship calculator to find out how much you might be awarded.

Wilkes Leadership Scholarship funds are allocated...
to the three major student publications (Beacon, Manuscript and Amnicola) and the radio station for distribution. Students are selected for these grants on the basis of the positions they hold within the publication staff. In addition, the president of Student Government, Commuter Council, Inter-Residence Hall Council and Off-Campus Council, and the chairperson of the Programming Board are each awarded scholarships. Students do not need to show financial need to be eligible for these scholarships.

Wilkes Multicultural Service Scholarships are offered...
to encourage and assist students from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds to attend Wilkes University and to contribute to the University’s community service activities. Students from all cultural and ethnic backgrounds with financial need will be considered for this scholarship. An interview with the coordinator of the Multicultural Service Scholarships is required to determine how the individual student might help the University attain its service goals. Renewal requirements include active participation in at least one campus or community service activity.

Wilkes Named Scholarships are available because...
several thousand friends and alumni contribute to the scholarship fund of the University on an annual basis. Many friends have created scholarships and awards that bear the names of the donors or of persons whom they have memorialized by means of scholarships. Requirements for these very special scholarships vary greatly.

Wilkes Performance Awards are given...
to students who major in theatre arts and musical theatre. Auditions are required. The amount of the scholarship is based on the recommendation of the faculty.

Wilkes Room and Board Scholarship is offered...
to a limited number of students who are recipients of two- to four-year Air Force ROTC scholarships and begin enrollment at Wilkes. These funds can only be used to cover Wilkes room and board charges. Further information is available at the Air Force ROTC Office.

Wilkes SAGE Award is...
a college savings plan program that provides a minimum reduction in tuition based on the student's participation in the SAGE program. This reduction may be in the form of a scholarship, grant, or direct discount and may not be additional to the financial aid award for which the student qualifies.

Air Force ROTC Scholarship is offered...
by the US Air Force in the form of two- to five-year, full- and partial-tuition scholarships for which qualified students may compete if they enroll in AFROTC. All scholarships are based on individual merit, regardless of financial need, with most scholarship recipients determined by central selection boards. Scholarship selection boards are held early in the school year and applicants must meet certain academic, physical fitness and medical requirements to be considered by the scholarship boards. Contracted cadets also receive a monthly stipend ($250-$400, depending on AS-level) and $600/yr for a book allowance.

Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship Program is for...

students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and show promise of continued excellence. This program is funded by the federal government, but is administered by the state agency responsible for public elementary and secondary schools in each state.

The Alumni Scholarship...

Do you have a family member who graduated from Wilkes? If so, you are eligible for the Alumni Scholarship. It is that easy! If you are interested in applying, please provide us with the following information:

  • Name
  • Student ID Number
  • Class Year
  • Major
  • GPA (3.0 or higher)
  • Family member’s name as a student
  • Family member’s social security number
  • Paragraph describing yourself, your achievements, your goals, and why you feel you should be awarded the scholarship
