Wilkes has been fielding a varsity team since 1946.
During that time the Colonels have amassed an overall record of 739 wins, 620 losses and four ties.
During 14 of the last 16 years...
Wilkes has posted a non-losing record. The 2007 squad claimed the Freedom Conference championship and earned a berth in the NCAA Division III Championship by fashioning a 24-12 mark. In 2004, the Colonels set a new school record for wins in a season by finishing the campaign with an overall record of 28-15-1. Wilkes teams have also copped three Middle Atlantic Conference titles, winning the crown in 1968, 1977 and 1994. The 1992, 1994, 2002 and 2004 teams also earned bids to the Eastern College Athletic Conference playoffs.
Wilkes enjoyed its best run on the diamond from 1976 to 1978...
when they reached the NCAA Tournament each season. The 1976 squad not only became the first Wilkes team to reach the NCAA field, but they are the only team to qualify for the College World Series after winning the Mideast Regional. That squad ended the season with a number-four national ranking.
Individual success has also been evident in the program.
Wilkes has had 60 first team Middle Atlantic Conference all-stars since 1968, including four Most Valuable Player honorees. The Colonels have also had 13 regional All-Americans, and seven All-Americans.
