Dr. Eric A. Wright

Associate Professor

Pharmacy Practice

Biography

Dr. Wright is an associate professor of pharmacy practice at Wilkes University, board certified pharmacotherapy specialist, and research investigator holds at Geisinger's Center for Health Research. He founded the Medication Management Clinic at the Wilkes-Barre VA and actively served as a clinical pharmacy specialist providing advanced medication care to veterans with chronic medical conditions for 12 years. In 2011, he joined the faculty at Geisinger’s Center for Health Research where he became actively engaged in pharmacoepidemiology and health services research with a focus on improving health outcomes caused by medication non-adherence. He is currently principal investigator on several health system investigations, one being a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation sponsored study evaluating the effects of provider note access by patients on medication adherence, and is co-investigator on a Harvard-led National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) Foundation study investigating the effect of healthcare interventions on primary medication non-adherence. Dr. Wright facilitates student learning in many pharmacy-related and general educational classes at Wilkes University. His main areas of teaching are in research design principles and managed care pharmacy and through a lab sequence for first-year pharmacy, he educates students about the role pharmacist play in influencing patient outcomes related to medication non-adherence. As Director of Residency Programs at Wilkes, Dr. Wright leads student informational sessions and the Teaching and Learning Curriculum program for area residents.
