Biography

Dr. Kimberly Metka attended Shippensburg University prior to earning her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at Wilkes University in 2007.  Upon graduation, she completed a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at York Hospital – Wellspan Health in York, PA, where she expanded her knowledge of clinical pharmacy in a hospital setting.
 
Dr. Metka’s advanced practice site is Mercy Hospital in Scranton.  She works closely with the Wright Center for Graduate Medical Education Residency Program and participates on medical rounds with an internal medicine team.  
 
Dr. Metka is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) and is also licensed to administer injectable medications in Pennsylvania.  Her areas of interest include anticoagulation, pain management, and infectious disease.
 
She is involved with a variety of pharmacy organizations including Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity (Secretary of the Pocono Graduate Chapter), Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association, and American College of Clinical Pharmacists.
 
Dr. Metka teaches throughout the pharmacy curriculum in classes such as Pharmacy Care Lab, Longitudinal Care, and Pharmacotherapeutics, as well as in a nursing pharmacology class.
