This teaching and research lab offers advanced technology, including a reel-to-reel-electrophoretic system, (which deposits Ionic nanoparticles from solutions onto conductors), an electrostatic powder coating unit (in storage), freeze drying units and an ultrasonic dispersion unit. Specifically, lab instruction teaches students:
- The deposition of electrically charged Ionic nanoparticles-materials suspended in liquid carriers to conducting charged surfaces followed by annealing furnace to cure the coatings
- Electrophoretic deposition advantages for nanothin film dielectric layer coating
- Principles of Ionic suspension in electrophoretic deposition
Introduction to Manufacturing (ME 215), Senior Projects II (ME 392) and Biomedical Devices (ME 442), a graduate course, utilize this facility.
