Research Projects

At WIESS, undergraduates collaborating with faculty members carry out most research. Research projects include the effect of climate change on the growth and physiology of Arctic plants, the influence of environmental factors on the development of Crohn's disease, shale gas development and water quality in streams,  endocrine disruptors and development of crustaceans, and the effects of small mammals on dispersal and establishment of oaks.

WIESS research has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, the Environmental Protection Agency, and the US Department of Agriculture as well as state and local agencies. Results are published in national and international scientific journals and are also disseminated through regional and national scientific meetings.
