General Information

Financial Aid
Students may apply for financial aid during intersession and may be eligible to receive funds through the Stafford Loan Program, the Pell Grant Program, or the PHEAA State Grant Program. Contact Financial Aid for more information.

Please note: Funds used during intersession may affect fall/spring eligibility.

A student who has paid tuition and fees in full and who withdraws from courses, or from the University, by the fourth day of intersession will receive a refund of one-half of his or her tuition and fees, upon written request to the Financial Management Office.

No refunds will be made to students who withdraw from courses or the University after this period. Students who are suspended or expelled from the University are not entitled to refunds.

Please note: Once a student submits a registration form in person, by phone, or on-line; he or she is considered registered and will be billed appropriate tuition charges. Students are not withdrawn from a course when they simply stop attending. Students must complete withdrawal forms, available at the the Registrar's Office, located at 165 S. Franklin St., Wilkes Barre, PA 18706 or at http://www.wilkes.edu/academics/office-of-the-registrar-recorder/forms/.*

*Campus offices will be closed from December 25, 2017 through January 1, 2018. Students who choose to withdraw from a course during this time should contact their advisor via email. 

Tuition Reimbursements
Wilkes will gladly defer payments for students who have tuition benefits from their employers. Deferment forms and additional information are available from the Financial Aid Office, located at 165 S. Franklin St., Wilkes Barre, PA 18706.

Please note: Requests for deferment must be submitted prior to the start of the winter session.

The Wilkes bookstore is located in the lower level of the Barnes & Noble located at 7 South Main Street, just off Public Square in downtown Wilkes-Barre. Store hours are:

  • Monday – Friday    8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Saturday    10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Sunday    12 noon to 5 p.m.

You can also order your books online. This service allows you to select your books by course. No need to stand in line; it's the fastest and quickest way to order your books.

Veterans' Benefits
Information about Veterans' benefits is available through the Veteran’s Counselor, Lt. Col. Mark Kaster. Contact Lt. Col. Kaster at (570) 408-5046 or mark.kaster@wilkes.edu. Wilkes University is a Yellow Ribbon School.

The Eugene Shedden Farley Library
The library is an excellent resource for Wilkes University students. Visiting students need only provide proof of registration to the library staff and a temporary card will be issued.

The library houses more than 220,000 volumes, 1100 periodical subscriptions, and 700,000 pieces of microfilm. The library staff will gladly assist students in learning how to use the collection & the electronic resources.

The library will be closed from Monday, Dec. 25, 2017 through Monday, January 1, 2018 and will reopen on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 with the following hours:

  • Monday – Friday:    8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday & Sunday:    CLOSED
  • January 9 & 10 (Monday & Tuesday):    8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
