Wilkes University Pharmacy Students Offer Outreach To Assist Community With Affordable Care Act Sign Ups
Students in Wilkes University’s Nesbitt School of Pharmacy are offering an outreach
session to help community members learn about and sign up for the Affordable Care
Act (“Obamacare”) the session, offered in cooperation with the Advocacy Alliance,
is on Saturday, Nov. 21, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the School of Pharmacy, located
in Stark Learning Center on the Wilkes campus.
This year, the open enrollment period for signing up for health care through the Affordable Care Act will be from Nov. 1, 2015 through Jan. 31, 2016.
Individuals are encouraged to call 570-408-4290 to make an appointment. Community members may park behind the Student Union Building at 84 W. South Street. Walk-ins are welcome if space is available. Signs with walking directions to the event will be posted.
Attendees should bring their Social Security numbers or document information for immigrants with satisfactory status, their federal tax information and employer and income information for everyone in the family.
Attendees may wish to determine their eligibility for tax credits towards health care plan premiums in the marketplace and sign up for an insurance plan that day, or just gather information.
After Jan. 31st, the next open enrollment period for marketplace health care will be in November 2016. If you do not have HealthCare after March 31st, you may be assessed a penalty 2.5% of household income or $695 per adult, whichever is higher.
