The Wilkes University Women’s and Gender Studies Department is excited to announce that we are now accepting submissions for presentations at the Spring 2013 Women’s and Gender Studies Conference to be held March 25th and 26th at King’s College. This year’s theme is “Women, Leadership, and Power.” Students, faculty, staff, and community members who have conducted gender studies research projects, who wish to engage in performance art, and/or who would like to raise awareness about WGS issues are invited to present. Session types include research presentations, panel discussions, video screenings, and performance art (e.g., poetry slam, dramatic performance, dance). We also welcome presentations about service learning, community service, and travel abroad opportunities. While sessions do not have to relate directly to the conference theme, they must be tied to a gender-related issue.
To submit a proposal please email a 150 word abstract of your intended presentation, and include a title, author/s names and contact information, type of presentation (e.g., research talk, performance art), any multimedia equipment needed (e.g., computer, DVD player), and preferred day and time you are available to present (Monday, March 25th or Tuesday, March 26th) to Dr. Robin Field, King’s College Women’s Studies Director, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Proposals are due by Friday, February 15, 2013.
For more information or questions about the conference please contact Dr. Jennifer Thomas at email@example.com, Director of Women’s and Gender Studies, or Dr. Robin Field, Director of Women’s Studies at King’s College at firstname.lastname@example.org.
