Why Science in Motion?

With the need for STEM-based education increasing rapidly, Science in Motion provides students with hands-on experience without straining budgets. SIM helps students advance their educations and compete for positions in a workforce where knowledge and use of current technology is imperative.

Science in Motion Works

Secondary teachers contact the Wilkes SIM mobile educator to schedule a visit. Our mobile educator will bring prepared laboratory kits and equipment right to the school, providing access to equipment not typically available in secondary schools. Mobile educators train teachers on the use of labs and equipment and, if requested, they can team-teach or lead classes through the activity.

Science in Motion offers a variety of labs, equipment, models and more to help engage students. Get more information on what SIM offers below.

Available Labs

Chemistry

Your students will become detectives as they use forensic evidence to solve a mystery. They’ll take science poolside as they analyze the SPF of sunscreen. These are just two of the ways Science in Motion brings real-world chemistry applications into your classroom. Check out the full list of available chemistry labs to see what else students can do.

Biology

Introduce your students to the world of Microscopy as they explore different types of microscopes. Allow your class to test the 5-Second Rule or extract DNA from a strawberry. These are just a few of the ways Science in Motion brings high-quality biology applications into your classroom. Check out the full list of available biology labs to see all we have to offer.

Physics

Your students will dive into the world of physics as they explore concepts like air resistance, impulse and momentum, and Newton's laws using Vernier software. They'll engage with hands-on experiments to understand these fundamental principles in a practical context. These are just a few examples of how Vernier technology brings real-world physics applications into your classroom. Check out the full list of available experiments to see what else students can discover.

Middle School

Your students will explore a range of scientific disciplines through labs designed specifically for middle school learners. They’ll dive into biology, chemistry, and physics with engaging, age-appropriate experiments. These are just a few examples of how tailored science labs can make complex concepts accessible and exciting for young scientists.
