To pursue a career in Musical Theatre Performance, you need an education that will
help you become exceptionally competitive as a performer. The right college can make
all the difference.
You will want to have a strong foundation in music, acting and dance. Wilkes University's BFA in Musical Theatre takes a serious integrative approach to voice, acting, dance and technical theatre within a liberal arts context.
In addition to weekly private voice lessons, Wilkes offers numerous vocal opportunities throughout the year.
Performance Opportunities:
- Four mainstage shows (two of which are musicals)
- Faculty directed black box shows
- Student directed black box shows
- Sing with our Jazz Band, University Chorus and Chamber Singers.
All levels of dance are offered every semester:
- Ballet, jazz, tap and modern
- Classes in choreography
- Multiple dance opportunities with the resident ballet company
The musicals in our production season range from classics like Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Carousel” to newer cutting edge offerings such as the difficult and dark neo- Brechtian musical “Adding Machine A Musical”.

Our students have opportunities to perform in every possible setting from intimate cabaret to proscenium – from original works to children’s theatre. It’s always interesting.
We encourage you to visit Wilkes and see a production. The best show of strength of
a school’s program is the quality of production it is ultimately able to produce.
Come and talk with our students.
