Admission Requirements

Applicants who have earned undergraduate or graduate degrees in any discipline are invited to apply.

To be considered for admission, please submit the following:

  • A completed online application with a $35 application fee
  • Official undergraduate/graduate transcripts from a regionally accredited institution
  • Two letters of recommendation​
  • A current resume
  • A personal statement addressing the following:
    • Your short- and long-term goals
    • Why you wish to pursue your MBA at Wilkes University
    • Why you are a strong candidate for the Wilkes MBA program

Admission to the MBA Program at Wilkes University can be based on your performance, proficiency, and pathways.

Performance

To be accepted on a regular basis, you must have:

  1. already earned a master's degree or
  2. earned a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 overall, or
  3. a calculated 3.0 GPA over the most recent four semesters in their undergraduate degree program.

If you do not meet the above criteria, you will be required to interview with the MBA program director or designate. In addition, one of the following conditions must be satisfied:

Proficiency

If you have earned a cumulative grade-point average of a 2.5 to 2.99 overall or calculated over the most recent four semesters in your undergraduate degree program, you will need to earn a satisfactory score on the GMAT.

Pathways

If you have more than seven years of professional work experience, you should submit a portfolio showing adequate preparation for graduate studies. The portfolio will contain the following:

  • writing samples that show graduate level communication and analytical skills;
  • a detailed resume showing professional development, achievements, awards and professional recognition;
  • letters of reference from persons who can attest to your ability to do graduate level work;
  • letter of explanation detailing the reasons you believe you are a suitable candidate for graduate study in the discipline requested.


Advisors

Accepted students are immediately assigned an advisor. Advising sessions are used to discuss career goals, student strengths and course-scheduling options. Sessions can also be used to communicate effective managerial role models and current job market conditions.
