Living off campus is the responsibility of the student. Wilkes does not inspect these apartments and cannot endorse or recommend any of them. Wilkes does not offer housing for graduate students and families.

What to Know About Off Campus Housing 

  • Do not give anyone money without a signed contract
  • Most apartments require a security deposit as well as first and last month’s rent
  • Most landlords will have a contact that you need to sign called a lease
  • Always ask for a signed copy of your lease
  • A lease may lock you into a certain amount of time and rent money
  • If you break your lease, you may still be required to pay rent, even if you decide to leave
  • Utilities (heat, water, electricity, internet, garbage, sewer, parking, laundry) may come at a separate cost from rent
  • Many apartments are unfurnished so you will have to supply your own furniture
