Residential Student Move-In

Move-in Day

Colonels Combat COVID

All of our decisions have been made with your health and safety at top of mind and under the guidance of national and state health officials. Please understand that planning is still underway. Specific guidelines about Move In Day, residence halls, and the new schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.

All the information you need to plan your Move In Day. We can't wait to welcome you to your home for the next academic year!

Below you will find your designated move in dates & times, key pick-up instructions, and move in directions.  We look forward to seeing you during Fall Opening Weekend!

Special Considerations for Move In

The Office of Residence Life, in conjunction with University Administration, is planning a move in experience that follows recommendations of local and state health officials in every way possible. To that end, we are requiring a few expectations of all students and guests on campus during move in.

  • Bring and Wear a Face Covering: All students and their move in guests will be expected to wear face coverings while on campus at all times. These need to cover your nose and mouth and fit snugly around the face.
  • Bring no more than two (2) guests with you to you campus. We understand that move in is an exciting time, especially for our newest Colonels! However, in order to maintain physical distance and limit exposure, we are asking that students do not bring more than 2 folks onto campus and into the residence halls.
  • Plan in advance for your assigned move in time. Please do your best to stick to your assigned move in time which includes not arriving early and assuring that your guests have vacated the halls at the end of your assigned move in time slot.
  • Review your packing list, bringing to campus only the most essential items. Elevators will be limited in occupancy and physical distancing will require lines  and significant wait times. Bring only the essentials to campus so you have fewer trips from the unloading area to your room and you can spend your time with your guests setting up your new home!
  • Laundry carts and hand carts will not be provided. We cannot ensure that these items are properly sanitized between uses.
  • Meal plans will be available starting August 19. All residential students will be able to access the dining hall from your first day on campus!

First Year Student Move In Day

In order to reduce stress on families, buildings, and traffic on campus, move in times have been established for each first year student. All First Year Students should direct themselves to the Student Union Building (SUB) for check in. Residence Life staff will be there 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day to hand out keys and answer any questions.

To ensure that first year students have additional support while in their first days on campus, move in times will be based on your Orientation Mentor group assignment. Specific move in times were included in housing assignment letters sent on July 31. However, students can reference the list below and find their eMentor OR log into their Housing Self-Service page to double-check their move in time slot.

Documentation may be required for approval. Students should expect a reply from Residence Life within 3 business days of submitting their form and forms will not be accepted after August 12, 2020. You will be required to log in with your Wilkes username and password. If you are using a mobile phone and signed into an account other than your Wilkes email, you may have difficulty. Suggested Packing List

With move in time being stressful for everyone and there being added pressure for students and families this year with limited capacities on elevators and in stairwells, it has never been more important to think critically about what you are bringing with you to campus. Please consider only bring the essentials. In order to help with that planning, Residence Life has created a Suggested Packing List of some must-haves and things you can probably consider leaving at home!
