Emily Cholin ‘21, Ritz-Carlton

HOSPITALITY LEADERSHIP

Emily felt a connection to Wilkes before she even stepped foot on campus. Drawn to both the service industry and leadership, she knew she’d find her path.

Through the hospitality management program in the AACSB-accredited Jay S. Sidhu School of Business, Emily honed her charisma with plenty of opportunities for hands-on experience and close mentorship. She learned the motto, “Focus on the people—both the team you oversee as well as the guests,” and enhanced her expertise with a minor in sustainability management and an internship at the Hotel Hershey in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Today, she’s a spa coordinator at The Ritz-Carlton in Portland, Oregon, joining a team composed of the top 1% of hospitality professionals. Both she and her team have been recognized for exceptional service and dedication.

Michael Nowak ‘24, Lockheed Martin

Electrical Engineering

Michael was looking for the right tools to build his future. The flexibility of life on campus and the opportunities to connect with the community initially drew him to Wilkes.

After taking a multidisciplinary engineering course and lab, he had his “lightbulb” moment and decided on a major in electrical engineering with a minor in computer engineering. Not only did he have hands-on opportunities in the classroom, but he also put his connection skills to work by joining the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, becoming an admissions ambassador and serving as a member of Student Government. Every experience he had at Wilkes prepared him for landing his dream job as an electrical engineering associate at Lockheed Martin.

Amanda Roxby ‘22, American University Washington College of Law

Pre-Law

The desire to help others is what drew Amanda Roxby '22 to pursue her dream of attending law school. At Wilkes, she found everything she needed to make her dream come true.

“Wilkes offered a welcoming and supportive environment that allowed me to grow both personally and academically.” That encouragement, provided by faculty and through the mentorship of the pre-law program, ensured Roxby had the confidence to take the next step.

She credits Wilkes with easing the difficult transition from undergrad to law school while providing her with practical advice on navigating networking opportunities with peers and employers. She is currently a law clerk with The Mount Law Firm in Washington, D.C. and will graduate from American University Washington College of Law in May 2026.
