The University’s approach to health science pre-professional education draws on our strengths in the sciences and the humanities.
Our program aims to make you a competitive candidate for admission to leading health professions institutions and prepare you for professional school admissions tests.
Wilkes is the only school in northeastern Pennsylvania to offer a team of individuals to help you design your course schedule each semester and guide you through the process of professional school searches, requirements and admissions exams. You will shadow a health care professionals beginning in your first year, allowing you to gain health care insight outside of the classroom. We also encourage our students to participate in poster presentations at regional and national conferences, giving you the unique opportunity to earn publishing credit as an undergraduate student.
Our pre-professional students also declare an academic major. While many choose biology, chemistry, biochemistry, psychology or neuroscience, you may also major in math, engineering or the humanities. In addition to requirements for your major, you will complete a series of pre-health professional core courses designed to prepare you for professional school admission tests as well as the rigorous doctoral course work to follow.
