Housing Selection Priority

In almost all cases, housing selection is based entirely around a student or a group's earned credits. Earned credits are defined as any credits attributed to student that are not currently in progress. Spring 2024 credits are not earned credits as they are still in progress.

A student's earned credits are used to determine housing selection times. Students with more earned credits will have earlier selection times and more housing options from which to choose. For roommate groups, the earned credits of each individual is averaged together to determine the group's selection time.

Example

Group A
  • Charlie has 22 earned credits.
  • Kirby has 18 earned credits.
  • Hunter has 19 earned credits.
  • Jordan has 35 earned credits.
Group A's average is 23.5 credits.
Group B
  • Sam has 55 earned credits.
  • Skylar has 15 earned credits.
  • Justice has 12 earned credits.
Group B's average is 27.3 credits.
Group C
  • Rochelle has 41 earned credits.
  • Karlea has 31 earned credits.
Group C's average is 36 credits.

As you can see in the example above, Sam has the highest earned credits of any student applying for housing. However, Group B would choose housing second after Group C, because their group's average credits is lower than Group C's average credits.

Housing Application Guide

In order to select housing accommodations for the 2024-2025 academic year, you will need to complete a housing application. This application will require you to affirm the 2024-2025 Housing & Dining Contract. You can find an electronic copy of that by clicking the button below. In addition, once you complete the application, you will receive a copy sent to your Wilkes University email address.

2024-2025 HOUSING AND DINING CONTRACT (.pdf)

Please follow these step-by-step instructions on how to complete your housing contract:

  1. Log on to the Housing Self-Service page external website.
  2. On the new screen, select the Application tab on the side menu bar.
  3. Select 2024-2025 Returning Student Housing Application (Fall 2024).
  4. Complete each step of the application, starting with an electronic signature and completing all questions ending with the selection of a meal plan.
  5. When your application is complete, select Submit. You should receive an email confirmation. Save this email in the event there is an issue with your application!

If you are interested in selecting housing with several of your fellow students, you will need to create a roommate group before the deadline of March 27, 2024. When housing selection times roll around, you will only be able to see housing options that fit your group's size. If you are a group of three, for example, only triple rooms in mansion-style housing or triple apartments will be available for you to select. If you are a single individual, you will only be able to see singles or double/triples in a mansion. Apartment style housing may be available for Individual Housing Selection if there are apartments unselected during the Roommate Group Housing Selection process.

Please follow these step-by-step instructions on how to create a roommate group.

  1. Log on to the Housing Self-Service page external website.
  2. On the new screen, select on the Roommate & Room Selection tab on the side menu bar, then select Select Roommates.
  3. Search for your desired roommate(s) with a simple First Name/Last Name and email address search. Your desired roommate will NOT show up if they have not completed their housing application. Check with them to ensure they have completed this step if you do not see your desired roommate when searching.
  4. Repeat these steps for all desired roommates.

All requests will be sent via email to your fellow students. Requests will need to be accepted in order for the roommate group to be formed. Make sure that you check back to your housing portal to ensure your roommate requests have been accepted. All roommate groups must be finalized on or before March 27, 2024!

Take some time to think about where you would like to live next year. This will help speed up your selection process when it actually comes time to choose your housing. For the 2024-2025 Academic Year, these are the types of housing options available and the halls in which they are available.

When choosing housing, you will only be able to see options that reflect your roommate group. For example, a roommate group of three (3) will only be able to see triple rooms and triple apartments. You will not be able to select a housing option that does not match your group size.
