Summer 2024 Information
The information below is designed to answer any questions you might have about living on campus in the summer at Wilkes University. You will want to submit a housing application and have the option to choose a roommate for the summer. Important Dates
For students taking classes in the pre-session immediately following Commencement, they will move into their summer assignment on Monday, May 20th. After that, students will check in with the Residence Life Office, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., before their summer class begins to retrieve their key.
Summer Housing ends on August 2, 2024 for all students on campus. Students who have Fall 2024 housing assignments will transition to those assignments on or around August 2nd. Students who are not living on campus for the Fall semester will have to move out of the halls on this date. No exceptions will be made as we need to prepare the residence halls for Fall Move In.
Accommodations
Summer housing assignments will be determined based on availability. We will try to give summer housing student’s single rooms if at all possible, but single rooms are not guaranteed for the summer. It will depend on demand for summer housing accommodations. Please note that air conditioning is not guaranteed.
Summer Housing Rates
The summer 2024 housing rate is $300 per week. Only students that have a University-related reason for being on campus are permitted to live on campus. Students will be expected to identify their reason for being on campus and identify a Wilkes University faculty or staff member who can confirm their activities. This includes:
- Taking classes during either summer term
- Participating in an internship for academic credit
- Participating in faculty-sponsored research (Student need not be a resident for Fall 2024)
- Work-study position for Wilkes University department
Housing will only be provided during the time the student is engaged in the University activity. Within 24 hours of the end of the University activity, the student will be expected to vacate their residential space and hand in their key.
Summer Dining Rates
Students are not required to have a meal plan over the summer. As such, students are encouraged to bring their own mini-refrigerators. The dining hall will be open during the weekdays if summer students wish to purchase a meal plan. Please log into the Wilkes portal to do so. The rates are as follows:
- Summer 10 (10 swipes): $95
- Commuter 30 (30 swipes): $284
- Commuter 60 + $100 (60 swipes, $100 flex): $648
Completing Your Housing Application
In order to receive housing accommodations for the summer, you will need to complete a housing application. This application will require you to affirm the Summer 2024 Housing Contract. In addition, once you complete the application, you will receive a copy sent to your Wilkes University email address. Applications will be available beginning April 1, 2024 and will be due April 30, 2024.
How to Complete Your Housing Contract
- Access the Self-Service Portal external website (you will be asked to log in to the Wilkes Portal).
- Select theApplication tab.
- Select Summer Housing Application (Summer 2024).
- Complete and submit your application. You should receive an email confirmation upon submission. Save this email in the event there is an issue with your application.
Creating A Roommate Group (Optional)
If you know another student with whom you would like to live for the summer, you may request that student. All of our summer students should be prepared to have a roommate assignment.
How to Create a Roommate Group
- Access the Self-Service Portal external website (you will be asked to log in to the Wilkes Portal).
- Select the Roommate and Room Selection tab, then select Roommates.
- From the drop down menu select term Summer 2024.
- Select your desired roommate from the Search for Roommate tab via their First Name/Last Name.
- Your desired roommate will need to have completed a summer housing application in order for you to find them in the search.
All requests will be sent via email to your fellow student. Requests will need to be accepted in order for the roommate group to be formed. Make sure that you check back to your housing portal to ensure your roommate request has been accepted. All roommate requests must be received by April 30, 2024 in order to be considered.
Next Steps
