The University requires external groups and organizations hosting events at Wilkes to be aware of the following policies and submit all requested paperwork in order for an event to be approved.
Both internal and external event planners are required to be aware of and abide by the minors on campus and emergency evacuation policy.
Wilkes University is dedicated to the welfare and safety of all minors who visit our campuses to participate in University-related programs or activities or any other event involving minors on the University campus.
All programs, camps and activities that involve the participation of minors fall under the scope of the University's minors on campus policy, including: programs operated by the university or third-party entities, programs taking place on campus and programs under the direction and authority of the university at locations off campus.
This policy applies to programs whether they are limited to daily activities or involve overnight accommodations of minors in University residence halls. In addition, external groups/organizations may be asked to complete a third party sponsor certification form (.pdf) for events that involve minors.
External groups and organizations hosting a program/activity at Wilkes University must accept a legal duty to operate the program/event in a safe manner consistent with the policies of Wilkes and all applicable laws. The responsible party must agree to indemnify, defend and hold the University harmless for any and all claims, causes of action, demands and damages arising out of or relating in any way to the program/activity.

Wilkes University requires all persons to leave any facility where an emergency evacuation alarm is activated as promptly as possible via the nearest available exit. If an alarm has not been activated, but it becomes clear that an emergency exists, all persons must leave immediately. Alarm pull stations should be activated upon exit.
No one is expected to endanger themselves in order to effect or assist with evacuation of others, but everyone has a duty to ensure that other occupants are aware of an emergency. Similarly, it is expected that individuals will, to the best of their ability, aid anyone requiring assistance to safely evacuate.
