Pharmacy Clubs at Wilkes University
The goal of the Pre-Pharmacy Club is to introduce students, aspiring to enter the Wilkes University Nesbitt School of Pharmacy to opportunities they will have throughout pharmacy school and in their future careers. The club is actively involved in organizing activities for the students as well as volunteering in the community. Members will be able to receive helpful information from pharmacy students enrolled in the professional program as well as faculty from the School of Pharmacy. Students also have the opportunity to speak with several pharmacists at a panel discussion.
Lambda Kappa Sigma is an international pharmacy fraternity that embraces the ideals of leadership, service, and collaboration among students and pharmacists to promote professional and personal growth. The Wilkes University Alpha Phi chapter holds a variety of professional and social events throughout the year including Lunch and Learn information sessions, a Girl Scout First Aid Badge event, and much more!
Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity is the oldest and largest professional pharmacy fraternity in the world. Kappa Psi has thousands of members who are actively practicing in many facets of pharmacy. Kappa Psi strives to promote the field of pharmacy through the benefits of fraternal affiliation and innovation. At Wilkes University, the Delta Omicron chapter is involved in numerous professional and community service projects. Once you become a brother in Kappa Psi, you are a brother for life.
Pharmacy Student Senate is the governing body of the Wilkes University Nesbitt School of Pharmacy. Its sovereignty oversees each pharmacy club and their members. Senate hosts numerous events, including the career fair, pharmacy ball, and end of the semester student body meeting. Positions held include team leaders, class presidents and vice presidents, and an executive board. Senate also gives you an opportunity to serve on faculty and staff committees to ensure our student voices are heard!
APhA-ASP is the organization that offers students a variety of opportunities in hospital, community, managed care, and any other field of pharmacy you may be interested in. APhA offers networking opportunities at the Midyear and Annual meetings every year. APhA also offers students a way to be involved through its patient care projects which consist of Operation Diabetes, Operation Heart, Operation Immunization, along with many more!
The mission of the Wilkes University Chapter of AMCP is to educate the students, university, and community about how insurance companies and other major healthcare organizations allocate funds and provide benefits to their members. AMCP provides opportunities to learn about this area through service projects, guest speakers, and information sessions. Managed care principles are valuable tools can be applied to any field of pharmacy.
Rho Chi is an academic honor society that consists of the top 20% of each pharmacy class. The top 15% are inducted in the spring of P2 year, and another 5% during the spring of P3 year. Rho Chi takes part in a variety of events, including health fairs, peer tutoring, presentations on health emergencies to education majors, and hosting the P3 APPE poster fair.
Don’t be afraid to ask for help! We offer tutoring services for multiple pharmacy courses, and can help you achieve a passing grade or bump that 3.5 to a 4.0!
