Bereavement Leave

Upon the death of an immediate family member, full-time employees who have successfully completed their introductory period may be paid their regular base wages for up to three (3) bereavement days. For the purposes of this policy, immediate family members include parents, spouses, children, employee's siblings and grandparents, great grandparents, mothers-in-law, fathers-in-law, stepparents, stepchildren, domestic partners and legal dependents.

Upon the death of an extended family member, full-time employees who have successfully completed their introductory period may be granted one (1) day off with pay to attend the funeral services of extended family members. For the purposes of this policy, extended family members include the employee’s aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousin, siblings-in-law.

An additional 2 days with pay may be granted if employees are attending funeral services that are more than five hundred (500) miles in one direction.

Days off in addition to those specified above for immediate or extended family members are also subject to management/Human Resources approval and will be charged against available earned vacation days.
