Wilkes University encourages the ongoing presence and participation of its retired full-time employees in campus life. To facilitate this, the University offers retired full-time employees, upon their request, the following benefits, provided that the retirement is not in lieu of termination, major sanction, or any other employment separation agreement.
Tuition Remission
Retiring full-time employees with 20 years or more of full-time service, along with their spouses and eligible dependents may request tuition remission benefits for any term during the employee’s lifetime. To access this benefit, retirees should contact the office of Human Resources with at least 30 days advance notice of the start of the term they wish to utilize the benefit. Tuition benefits will be subject to the current policies and benefit limitations offered to active full-time employes.
Wilkes University Identification Card
Retiring full-time employees will be eligible for a Wilkes photo ID card with building access assigned as necessary, subject to approval by the University Police department, respective Dean and the office of Human Resources.
On-campus Parking Privileges
Retiring full-time employees will be eligible for paid on-campus parking privileges at a rate equivalent to current part-time employees. Retiree parking permits can be requested through the University Police department.
Library Privileges
Retiring full-time employees will be eligible for full library privileges including access to all resources and rooms within the Eugene S. Farley Library and electronic resources.
Bookstore Discount
Retiring full-time employees will be eligible to receive a discount at the university’s bookstore consistent with any discount offered to active full-time employees.
YMCA Membership
Retiring full-time employees will be eligible for ongoing free membership to the Greater Wyoming Valley YMCA facility, as long as the benefit continues to be offered to active full-time employees.
Wilkes University e-mail account privileges
Retiring full-time employees will be eligible for a Wilkes e-mail account, unless notified otherwise in advance of retirement and subject to approval from the office of Human Resources and IT services.
Office privileges
On-campus office privileges may be granted if the retiring full-time employee is actively engaged in teaching, research, or administrative activities. Office privileges are contingent upon availability and will be granted at the discretion of the Provost or responsible Vice President, and upon request from the department/division chair and/or department manager.
Invitation to selected University events and ceremonies
Non-voting participation in faculty meetings (retiring full-time faculty only)
