First-Year Student Orientation

Group of students at first-year student orientation

As a new first-year student, you will be able to participate in a virtual student orientation summer session.

You will be able to meet one-on-one with your academic advisor to complete your fall 2020 semester course schedule, get to know the e-mentor staff, schedule an appointment with a financial aid counselor and learn about life on campus - as a resident or a commuter student.

Each spring, incoming students receive an orientation welcome letter, which provides instructions on how to log on to the Wilkes University portal to register for an orientation session and complete a list of important tasks.

Important Dates:

  • June 28 to July 2 - FYS Orientation Session 1 (Online)
  • July 12 to July 16 - FYS Orientation Session 2 (Online)
  • August 19 to August 23 - Welcome Weekend (On campus)

If you have any questions about specific resources on campus, please don't hesitate to contact us at orientation@wilkes.edu or call 570-408-4014.

Every year, first year students participate in a community service project as part of their First-Year Student Orientation. In small groups, they get to know some of the local organizations, become more familiar with the Wilkes-Barre area and of course, make connections with their new peers!
